Mahjong reference card and colorful acrylic racks set up for a beginner class in St. Petersburg, FL

STRATEGY LAB · ONE TOPIC, DONE WELL

You can play. Now sharpen it.

Strategy Lab is a 90-minute American mahjong class that takes one topic and stays with it the whole session. It's for players who already play, and you can take the Labs in any order.

How it works.

You can play. Now you want to be better at the whole game.

The way there is one topic at a time. Each Strategy Lab picks a single thing and stays with it for the full session, and what you learn spreads well past that one topic. Get comfortable with the Charleston, and your whole opening changes.

We go slowly, and you try it as many times as you need before it clicks.

The six Labs.

Learning to Let Go

The Charleston, with a plan for what to pass and what to keep.

Beginning, Middle, End

What to focus on early, in the middle, and when the wall runs low.

Mahjong Fact or Fiction

House rules and the actual rules, sorted out.

Table for Two

Siamese mahjong and three-player games, so a short table still plays.

Thrive, Not Just Survive

Getting ready for your first tournament.

What's It Worth?

How hands are valued on the card, and why that changes your choices.

The Labs repeat, so if you miss the one you want, it comes around again.
