Why alternative cards exist

Mahjong players aren't one-size-fits-all. Some enjoy a different layout. Some like experimenting with different scoring. Some are drawn to fresh design or new rules. Alternative cards don't replace the NMJL card - they complement it, especially for casual play and home games. If you play in leagues or tournaments, NMJL is what you need. If you're playing casually, alternatives can offer a new perspective and a different kind of challenge.

Remember, all players at your table need to play the same card. If you’re considering alternative cards, you may wish to purchase four to have on hand for your group.

If you're new to Mahjong or playing in any organized setting, get the NMJL card. If you've been around the table a while and want to try something new, the alternatives are worth exploring. Still unsure? Just ask.
