MAHJONG 102 · FOR RETURNING BEGINNERS
You know the basics. Now get the rhythm.
Mahjong 102 is a 2-hour American mahjong class for returning beginners in St. Petersburg. It's for players who've learned the game and want to stop playing a beat behind.
Sound familiar?
You've got the basics. What you don't have yet is the rhythm, so you play a beat behind and second-guess every discard.
That's normal, and it's the whole reason 102 exists. One class teaches you the game. It can't hand you the ease that only comes from playing again, with someone at the table who can tell you why the thing you just did worked.
What we work on
- Reading the card faster, so you settle on a hand sooner
- Passing with a plan in the Charleston
- Calling a tile with confidence, and knowing when to let it go
- Playing full games with coaching at the table
We play more than we talk. By the end, the table starts to feel familiar.

Questions about Mahjong 102.
Do I have to take Mahjong 101 with you first?
No. If you learned somewhere else or played years ago and remember the basics, 102 is a good fit. Not sure? Email me and I'll help you choose.
What's the difference between 102 and Guided Play?
102 teaches the next layer of the game, and we start looking at strategy. Guided Play is mostly full games, with me at the table when you need help.
I played 20 years ago. Is 102 right for me?
If the rules come back when you see the tiles, yes. If not, 101 is the kinder start, and nobody will know.
Can I come by myself?
Yes. You'll play with other returning beginners at your level.
Less second-guessing, more mahjong.
