TASTE OF MAHJONG · A 90-MINUTE FIRST LOOK

Curious about mahjong? Have a taste.

Taste of Mahjong is a relaxed 90-minute introduction to American mahjong, taught at venues around St. Petersburg. We meet the tiles, open the card and start playing together, so you leave knowing whether this is your game.

This is for you if

  • Everyone keeps talking about mahjong, and you'd like to know what the fuss is about.
  • You'd rather try it before you commit to a full class.
  • A friend keeps inviting you to her game, and you keep finding excuses.
  • You'd like a relaxed first look, with no homework and no pressure.

What happens in 90 minutes

  • We meet the tiles: the suits, the honors, the flowers and the jokers
  • We open the National Mah Jongg League card together
  • We play, slowly and together, so you feel how a game moves

It's a taste, not the whole meal. Mahjong 101 is where you learn to play on your own.
