Private Mahjong Lessons in St. Pete

For friends who want to learn together and keep playing afterward

The group classes are where most women start, and I love giving those lessons. But if you already have a few friends who want to learn, a private lesson lets the whole group start at the same place and leave ready for its first game night.

Who private lessons suit

Private lessons are a good fit for a group of friends who want their own regular game, or for neighbors or club members starting a table together. They also work for couples, which is how some husbands end up at the mahjong table.

You don't need any experience, and you don't need a set. I bring the tiles and mats, and I teach with my Mahjong Made Simple method, so your group plays a real game before the lesson ends.

At my home in Gulfport

A 2-hour lesson at my home is $85 per person for up to eight people, with a $170 minimum. It's relaxed and focused, and nobody in your group has to host.

At your home or venue

I can also come to you. A 2.5-hour lesson at your location is $100 per person for up to nine people, with a $400 minimum.

For ten or more people, it's $85 per person with an $850 minimum. There's a $35 travel fee.

Private lesson or group class?

If you're on your own, a group class is the better start, and you'll meet other women learning at the same time. If you already have your people, a private lesson keeps the group together from the first tile.

Either way, you leave knowing how to play, and the main difference is who's sitting next to you.

A gift that gets used

A mahjong lesson makes a good holiday gift for the friend who keeps saying she'd love to learn. I offer gift certificates, so you can give the lesson and let her pick the date.

After your lesson

Once your group knows the basics, you can keep playing at home or come to my free open plays around St. Pete. When you're ready to sharpen up, Mahjong 102 is there for returning beginners.
